Lewisham advocates obstruct 3 roadways into city centre to highlight air contamination crisis
Environmental protesters stopped traffic on 3 primary roadways into main London from the south-east in demonstration over the “air contamination crisis” in the location.
The protesters, arranged by a regional chapter of the Extinction Rebellion group , obstructed traffic on the A20 near Lewisham station, A205 South Circular in Catford and the A2 in Deptford throughout the early morning rush-hour.
XR stated the action was planned as the very first in a series of interruptions in the location as part of a project called Let Lewisham Breathe. Protesters distributed brochures and cake to apologise for the disturbance triggered on a primary path into the centre of London.
